Home to the towns of Skibby and Jaegerspris, the peninsula of Hornsherred also boasts some of Denmark's most attractive countryside. This region is characterised by extensive swathes of woodland, rolling hills and ever-present views of the region's two main stretches of water, Roskilde Fjord and the Isefjord. While it is defined by its fjords, countryside and well-marked country paths, Hornsherred also boasts many interesting historical sights, including the Stone Age burial mounds and the attractive castles at Jaegerspris and Selsø. The region is also handily placed for other regional attractions - not least Denmark's famous capital city, Copenhagen, which can be reached in less than an hour by car. Family attractions here include the world famous Tivoli Gardens, Amalienborg Palace, the Planetarium, and the Old Town, which is bisected by 'Strøget', Europe's longest pedestrianised shopping street, which contains stores for every taste.
