Holiday house Gaby with garden in Anjum

Chalet ‘Gaby’ is located directly at the waterfront of the quiet local marina of Oostmahorn at the Lauwerslake. Pets are welcome in ‘Gaby’.

From the living room and kitchenette (with a dishwasher and combi microwave), you can look directly at the lake and reach the terrace and garden from which it’s only a couple of steps to your private fishing deck.

Chalet ‘Gaby’ (with a living space of approx. 60 m²) has two bedrooms. One of the two bedrooms has a 1.40 x 2 m queen bed with a one-piece mattress. The second one has 2 single beds. There is a bathroom with toilet and shower.

On the terrace you can enjoy the views from your garden chairs and from the fishing deck you can plunge into the water, use one of the two canoes that belong to the house to explore the national park or (obviously) go fishing.
The garden also has its own sauna-area with a (2 person) infrared sauna and a bbq is available.

The chalet has its own parking space in front of the house.

The internet and sauna are free of charge in ‘Gaby’, There’s tv and baby cot and high chair are available on request. Dogs are welcome.

Oostmahorn is an old stronghold at the at the western side of the Lauwerslake with a rich history, dating back to the sixteenth century. Nowadays it’s a very pleasant tourist destination at the National Park Lauwersmeer, hosting several holiday resorts.

The lake itself and the direct surroundings are a true paradise for nature lovers, fisherman, water sports enthusiasts, cyclists and hikers. Dogs are more than welcome here as well. There’s a special beach and a forest for them at Lauwersoog.

Within a couple of hundreds of meters there are several playgrounds for children. At the beach, in the small resort ‘De Skâns’ and in Esonstad - which is a holiday resort build as a replica of a typical old Frysian city. In Esonstad you’ll even find a bouncy castle and an indoor playing hall and one can play golf and foot golf here at the local Pitch & Putt area. Renting a bicycle or e-chopper is also possible here.

In Esonstad you can easily do your daily groceries (a bigger supermarkt is just a couple of kilometers away in Anjum) or find a restaurant, pizzeria or a snackbar.
Another three restaurants are even closer to your holiday house. Some of them offer spectacular lake views. Other good options to enjoy the local seafood cuisine are the sea harbor of Lauwersoog at the northern side of the lake, the old fishing village of Zoutkamp at the eastside of the lake or at Dokkum, the most northern fortified city of Friesland.

To discover the National Park from the waterside you could bring your own boat or surf gear but there are boats and sailing boats for rent as well at ‘Paviljoen La Barca’. If you’re more into cat sailing, try the local cat-club ‘Omaho’, next to the small marina.

A boat-tour, sailing trip to Dokkum, bird or seal expedition can be booked around the corner and a ferry to the beautiful island of Schiermonnikoog, with it’s many miles of sandy beaches, is leaving from Oostmahorn as well.

The Lauwerslake (Lauwersmeer in dutch) is truly loved by fishermen for its large bream, roach, pike, perch and eel. At the reception of Holland1 you can obtain a fishing permit.

Do you like to walk and do you want to relax? Then visit the fishing village of Paesens-Moddergat with its small museum and experience the Wadden Sea World Heritage with its largest unbroken system of intertidal sand and mud flats in the world. Hiking over the mudflats of the Wadden Sea certainly is one of the most memorable activities in the Netherlands. Guided tours can be booked here every day of the year.

Or just stay and enjoy yourself at your holiday house. Just don’t forget to look up at the universe on a clear night. With the title Dark Sky Park, Lauwersmeer National Park is one of the world’s darkest places. Here, you can truly experience nature in the dark!

- Pets are allowed in the house, we charge EUR 5 per pet per day. Pets must be registered in advance.
- It is not allowed to charge electric cars at the rented house.
- Bed linen / towels / kitchen towels can be brought along or rented:
1 bed linen package: fitted sheet + duvet cover + pillowcase for 12.50 EUR.
1 set of towels: 2 towels + 1 bath towel + 1 bath mat + 1 tea towel for 5 EUR.
- Fishing license (valid in province of Friesland) price : 15 EUR per week.
- Barbecue is allowed.Smoking in the house leads to loss of security deposit.

    “Für uns war alles perfekt. Im Haus ist alles wünschenswerte vorhanden und wir hatten tolle Tage. Es gibt nichts zu beanstanden und wir werden bestimmt wiederkommen! Ccheck-in und check-out superfreundlich, schöne Aussicht und perfekte Lage (besonders mit Hund)! Top!”

    “Die Ausstattung sowie die Sauberkeit im Haus ist als normal gut zu bezeichnen. Was uns in diesem Preis Segment gar nicht gefallen hat sind die fehlende Waschmaschine, dafür gab es eine defekte Spülmaschine, eine Matratze im Schlafzimmer in der man (Mann, 1,88 cm 86kg,Frau 1,71 cm 65 Kg) so tief eingesunken ist, dass ich denke, die hätte man schon vor 3 Jahren austauschen können. Sehr ungepflegt empfanden wir den Innenhof, voller Unkraut zwischen dem Pflaster, das Haus, Nebengebäude und Zäune, die auch schon vor längerer Zeit einen Anstrich gebraucht hätten, dazu noch ein defekter Sonnenschirm, merkt man bei Regen natürlich nicht, wir hatten aber nur Sonnenschein. Insgesamt haben die angepriesenen Bilder nichts mehr mit dem ist Zustand gemeinsam und das ist schade, weil es dort insgesamt sehr schön war.”

    “Das Haus liegt direkt am Ufer des örtlichen Jachthafens. Bei einem Blick auf alle vorherigen Bewertungen wird man feststellen, dass diese ausschließlich positiv waren.
    Hinzu kommt, dass es für dieses Haus überdurchschnittlich viele Stammkunden gibt. Da auch schon größere, und vor Allem deutlich schwerere Gäste das Haus bewohnt haben, betrachten wir die Beurteilung der Matratzenqualität als Einzelmeinung. Das Bett ist übrigens vor zwei Jahren erneuert worden. Als wir am Abreisetag die Kaution erstattet haben, gab es auf unsere Frage nach Mängeln (Problemen) eine deutliche Verneinung.
    Die folgenden Gäste haben sofort den Zustand der Spülmaschine reklamiert. Der Installateur empfahl den Austausch. Die neue Spülmaschine wurde in der letzten Woche eingebaut.
    Wir haben immer einige Sonnenschirme vorrätig, wurden allerdings vom Kunden nicht daraufhin angesprochen.
    Zum Zustand des Innenhofes sowie der Rasenfläche können wir nur darauf hinweisen, dass es hier länger als 2 Monate praktisch nicht geregnet hat. Davon betroffen sind alle Rasenflächen und
    Gärten. Es gibt leider nur noch "verbrannte Flächen", auch alle Deiche - die den Schafen immer als Weiden dienen - sind braun und es gibt dort keine Schafe mehr.
    Die Zäune und das Haus sind aus einer Holzart (Red Zeder), die keinen Anstrich benötigt. Das Nebengebäude (Gartenhaus) wird abgerissen und durch einen größeren Neubau hinter dem Haus ersetzt, deshalb macht ein Anstrich keinen Sinn mehr.”

    “Het huisje binnen was oké, maar de tuin lag er jammer genoeg zeer verwaarloosd bij. Buiten een degelijke opknapbeurt zou dit huisje zoveel meer aantrekkelijker maken.”

    “Haus ist sehr schön eingerichtet und auch verfügt über eine gute Ausstattung.
    Auch im Garten waren genügend schöne Gartenmöbel und Sitzplätze. Wir waren
    mit einem Hund dort. Die Lage ist sehr ruhig.
    Wir waren voll zufrieden.”
